Great morning alluring budgeters!
Only when you thought it couldn’t get any better, National Spreadsheet Day arrives 🙂 A day to ultimately rejoice around something significant! Haha…
Based on DaysofTheYear.com:
Now I monitor ALL SORTS of arbitrary things using them, as well as of course the almighty net worth. (Not random whatsoever, but quite inspiring!)
The entire history of how VisiCalc came to be is really fairly fascinating (VisiCalc = Observable Calculator), so make sure to check it out after you’re done with this particular literary masterpiece 😉
This really is the best part of it though:
Screen shot of the initial prototype!! Created over a weekend on an Apple II computer using Apple Integer Basic, haha… Anyone around here ever utilize that back in the day? (See last week’s post on where “keeping up with the Joneses” originated from.
Anyways, it’s a fantastic day to be living and observe something we so readily take for granted now that spreadsheets are really so omnipresent. And while they aren’t consistently perfect and have their very own group of challenges, the total amount of customization and management you get using them is simply mind blowing. Especially with monitoring your finances.
My son Peter Polson from Tiller who tipped me away on this wonderful day today, also e-mailed me a couple of stats he got doing some sleuthing of his own.
If you’re as much a spreadsheet fan as I’m, I’m confident you’ll agree with a smattering of these:
- 96% are satisfied with using a spreadsheet compared with the program/s they strove
- 92% are more conscious of their spending habits now that they’re using a spreadsheet
- 89% say spreadsheets give them much more control over they manner in which they monitor their finances
- 83% believe spreadsheets are easier and more straightforward to work with compared to the program/s they strove
- 81% say spreadsheets have better reporting alternatives in relation to the program/s they strove
The stat I emphasized is undoubtedly the most crucial in my publications. You can automate all you desire, but should you don’t take time to review any of it – and then fix as needed – what’s the point??
Now – AN IDEAL TOOL, in my opinion? A mixture of both automation & spreadsheet, providing you the very best of each of the worlds to actually catapult monitoring.
But how the hell is the fact that possible? You’d be loaded if you figured that out!! Haha… Well, I don’t have any clue how loaded Peter and his cohorts are, but after spending some time on his website (TillerHQ.com) as well as in person at our last fiscal convention, he’s undoubtedly figured out the way to unify the two.
And it’s a lovely thing 🙂
Could be a trendy method to turbocharge your tracking!
How Can Tiller Work?
In a nutshell, Tiller mechanically pulls transaction data from all your charge card, checking account, and savings accounts every day, then feeds it into a secure Google Sheet spreadsheet so you’ve always got a present perspective.
It’s like “if Mint and Google spreadsheet had a infant, along with the genes from Google were a lot more powerful.” Haha… at least says Kathleen Celmins who you could understand from FrugalPortland.com and Stacking Benjamins 🙂 My good friend Derek from HowDoIMoney.com (hilarious site, btw) is also fairly obsessed with them, and affirms it’s altered his monetary game.
Here’s some cool screenshots of it in action:
And folks like us can find that out fairly fast as we’re better examiners compared to the typical individual 🙂
It’s possible for you to poke about and learn more here: TillerHQ.com
(PS: If you’re a pupil you may use them FOR FREE for a year 🙂 Similar to what YNAB offers as well – another excellent budgeting alternative should you harbor’t inquired yet (see our complete review here))
Are more of you using spreadsheets vs automated programs like Mint or Personal Capital?
However you’re monitoring it, provided that you’re DOING IT you’ll be well on your own method to Wealth Nation, USA in virtually no time. And I’m proud to share this type of lovely day with you here today 🙂
Joyful Spreadsheet Day* to all!
*2nd to only International Be Proud of Your Cash Day!
However, you may rest assured I truly love what they’re about as I was really going to write about them anyways for free! Haha…
